2006 CWSF Results

After winning at the Renfrew County Regional Science & Technology Fair in April, four of the participants in out regional fair participated in the Canada Wide Science Fair in Saguenay, Quebec, 2006 May 13th - 21st at the University of Quebec in Chicoutimi, some coming home with awards.

Justin Reardon of Bishop Smith Catholic High School won a Bronze Medal in Senior Computing & Information Technology, for his project titled "The Hierarchical Clustering System: Finding Similarities in Data Using Hierarchical Clustering". This award included $300 cash & certificate sponsored by Intel Canada Ltd. and University of Western Ontario Scholarship of $1000.

Roopa Suppiah of Mackenzie High School in Deep River, won a number of awards for her project titled "Sun Shines on Wind Power". She won the Intermediate AECL Award for Excellence in Science, which included $750 cash & certificate sponsored by Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd. Roopa also won Honourable Mentions in Intermediate Automotive, sponsored by AUTO21 and in Intermediate Earth & Environmental Science, sponsored by Petro-Canada. Both awards included $100 cash & Certificate.

Derek Clouthier of Arnprior District High School won the Senior Ontario North & East Petro-Canada Peer Innovation Award, $200 cash & certificate sponsored Petro-Canada, for his project titled "How To Maximize Your Concentration & Brain performance".

Loreena Dobson from Cobden Public School was the fourth member of the strong Renfrew County Team.
