First registered as a charity in 1979
The fair was originally jointly administered and sponsored by the Rotary Club of Pembroke, The Algonquin Chapter of the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO), and the Pembroke Observer.
Purpose
Two main purposes for the organization are to assist the scientific and teaching professions in their active support of scientific progress and education among young people in the County of Renfrew; and encourage young people in the County of Renfrew to consider lifetime vocations in science and technology and to stimulate their minds to a better understanding of the role of these fields in national and international affairs.
Today's Fair
The fair now a program of the Deep River Science Academy but is responsible for its own fundraising. The fair sponsored by many corporate and individual sponsors, with the PEO and the Rotary Club of Pembroke remaining as sponsors but with no members on the committee. Our committee is now made up of educators, scientists, engineers and technology professionals. With a mandate is to grow the interest in science and technology among the youth, educators and science and technology community of the Renfrew County region.
