A program of the Deep River Science Academy

Participate

Every year students from across the Renfrew County present the results of their scientific inquiries at the regional science fair, and we'd love to see you there too!

Who can enter?

Any student in grade 6 to 12 in the Renfrew County is welcome to participate in the fair. Projects created by both single students and pairs may enter. Students are divided into four age divisions. Students in grade 7-12 are also eligible to be selected to represent the Renfrew County at the Canada-Wide Science Fair, held every year for a week in May.

What do I need to do?

First, and most importantly, you need to create a science fair project. Take a look at our collection of resources on this topic to start.

In late January or early February registration will open. In early April, the science fair itself will be held (exact dates and locations will be available by the time registration is open). Most students are expected to set up their project at the fair on the Friday evening before the fair.

At The Fair

On the day of the fair, a series of judges will judge you and your project. Each judging lasts about 10 minutes, so make sure to prepare a short explanation of your project and be prepared to answer questions. During judging you'll also have time to meet the other participants and see their work.

In the afternoon, there will be an awards ceremony where the best projects in each division/category are awarded, various special awards are given out and the students selected to attend the CWSF are announced.
