Over many years RCRSTF has provided great opportunities for local youth to participate in an exceptional experience. We are affiliated with the national youth science organization, Youth Science Canada, and send 4 of our winning students on to the Canada-Wide Science Fair.
The continued success of this event depends on the support of judges who will volunteer their time, effort and expertise to learning about what students have discovered and want to share. We need more than 150 judges in order to provide the kind of first class judging experience these students deserve!
What do Judges do?
With RCRSTF, numerous judges are assigned to the basic categories. Those judges are then given a number of student projects to independently evaluate following a fixed set of questions and expectations. Typically three – four judges are assigned to each project. You will circulate through the exhibits, reviewing your assigned projects, evaluating them without the students present. You will spend 10 minutes on each project with the student(s) present, in order that you can ask them questions regarding interpretations of their project or findings. You may also provide constructive suggestions to these students who are often looking for ways to improve their research abilities and presentation style. Finally, scores are calculated and given to the scoring coordinator to be entered into our scoring software.
